Social Worker is a
rewarding career. Social Workers are responsible for helping individuals,
families, and group of people facing problems they need to solve. It is a
career related to psychology. These mental health professionals help people
with a broad range of issues, including psychological, financial, health,
relationship, and substance abuse problems. Social workers are employed in a
variety of settings, including hospitals, mental health clinics, schools,
nonprofit agencies, and government offices. There is different type of social
workers. Some of them are Substance Abuse Counselor, Marriage and
Family Therapist, Clinical Social Workers, Healthcare Social Workers, School
Counselor, Medical Social Workers, Community Program Administration, and Social
Work Teachers. Most of them generally work full time and some may need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
I am in graduate school now studying to become a social worker. I want to be a licensed clinical social worker. They work with clients to help deal with issues involving mental and emotional health issues. A clinical social worker may diagnose and treat mental, behavioral and emotional disorders. All clinical social workers need to have a MSW – a master's degree in social work. You will first need to earn a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field such as Psychology, Child Development, Social Work or Sociology. I have a bachelor degree in psychology from North Carolina Central University. (NCCU). The annual mean salary for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker on a nationwide basis ranges - depending on employer - between $40,000 and $70,000.
The reason why I want to become a clinical social worker is because I want to make a difference in other people’s lives. I want to help individuals and families find solutions. I want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say because of you, I didn't give up. Social Workers make a difference. I want to work in a clinic. I always wanted to work in a medical field.
